What types of ADUs are there?
Clark County's ADU development codes define the following types of ADUs: Rural Accessory Dwelling Units (RADUs), Urban Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), and Cottages. The distinction between Rural and Urban ADUs is about the zoning of the project. For a building to be considered an ADU, there needs to be a primary home located on the property.

Beyond the county definitions, there are multiple styles of ADU that are commonly built in Clark County. Some ADUs exist as remodels or additions, connected to the existing home. Others can be stand-alone buildings with their own dedicated power, water, and other utilities. Tiny homes, small single-family dwellings of not less than 150 square feet, are permanent structures that provide the core amenities of a home in a small space.
